Darjeeling Gopaldhara First Flush Oolong Tea Explained

Darjeeling Gopaldhara is a special Oolong Tea. It is from the Mirik Valley in the Darjeeling Himalayas, India.

The Gopaldhara Tea Estate was founded in 1881.

The name ‘Gopal’ refers to the beloved god-child in Hindu mythology.

The word ‘Dhara’ refers to the natural spring water streams which flow through the tea estate.

With this, it is no surprise the Darjeeling Estate operates by the motto "to provide pure tea, fit for the Gods".

Gopaldhara Oolong is grown on the highest mountain in Darjeeling at 7000 feet above sea level.

The high altitude of Darjeeling provides high levels of moisture, sunlight and cloud cover which contribute to its high quality taste.

This semi-oxidised first flush tea is soft & aromatic with floral tones and a nutty aftertaste.

Darjeeling Oolong presents a large, curly leaf with lots of silvery-white tips.

On inspection, you can see the silvery-white tips are mixed with darker & more fermented tea leaves.
