Hojicha Tea has been grown from organic cultivation in Japan and produced from Kukicha Green Tea Twigs.
This Japanese tea was roasted at a high temperature resulting in a reddish-brown colour which is visible on inspection.
The roasting aspect of Hojicha Green Tea makes it unique as most green teas are steamed rather than roasted.
But Hojicha Tea is steamed to halt the oxidation process and then roasted over charcoal.
The roasting process produces the distinctive Hojicha taste which is a toasty, nutty caramel flavour; rather than typical grassy green tea tones.
The unique roasting process also results in a lower caffeine content than Matcha Tea and a taste with little to no bitterness.
Due to its subsequent lower caffeine content, Japanese Hojicha Tea is traditionally served as an evening tea, especially before or after dinner.

Brewing Instructions:
Take a large teaspoon (or 2 grams) of our Japanese Hojicha Organic and place into a tea infuser.
Boil the kettle until it reaches 75-80°C or just when the kettle starts to rumble.
Leave the infuser in a teapot or tea cup for 1-3 mins.
Remove the infuser and enjoy a delicious cup of tea!
