Japan Sencha Yamato Green Tea (No.130)
£2.20 – £93.20
A top tier japanese green tea. Intensely rich & aromatic taste with classic japanese bitterness
Japanese Yamato Tea (yamato-cha) is a hand rolled sencha green tea. It was first produced over 1200 years ago when a legendary monk ‘Kukai’ brought tea plant seeds from China to Japan. Yamato is mainly produced in the mountains of the Yamato Highlands which has a cool climate, fresh air and rich, fertile soil. The name ‘Yamato’ derives from the original name of the area, currently known as the ‘Nara District’ which is South of Osaka. Sencha in Japanese means ‘steamed green tea’ and Sencha Yamato is a superior grade of sencha green tea. Its taste consists of typical green tea tanginess and mild, aromatic tones. The quality of Sencha Yamato shows in the bright green colour of this infusion. In comparison to Sencha Fuji or Sencha Fukujyu, Japanese Yamato is richer and stronger and smoother than standard Sencha.
