Matcha Taishan Organic Green Tea Explained
Matcha Taishan is an organically cultivated green tea from the Taishan Plantation in the north-western area of Zhejiang Province.
Much the same as Japanese Matcha & Gyokuro Green Tea, the tea plants used for Chinese Matcha are shade grown before plucking.
Shade grown teas produce a higher chlorophyll content which subsequently increase the caffeines content and antioxidant properties.
Furthermore, shade grown teas produce a higher amount of amino acids which are responsible for Taishan’s smooth and rich taste.
In terms of appearance, Taishan Matcha is a fair coloured, fine powered tea with a robust character much typical with green teas.
Once brewed, our Chinese Matcha produces a moss green colour with a strong, refreshing bouquet and a slightly sour aftertaste.
