Tea Description

The Bukhial Tea Estate is situated in the Golaghat District which is a narrow, boomerang-shaped district in Assam, India. The Bukhial Tea Estate was founded in 1920 by the McNeil & Berry Company. Within Bukhial, high quality Assams are grown on over 570 hectares of land. A classic quality tea to come from the Bukhial Estate is this rough and grainy CTC (Crush Tear Curl). Assam Bukhial is a strong and malty tea with peaty tones. On appearance, expect a dark, coloured cup comparable to dark teak wood tones.

Discover Assam Tea

Assam tea comes from the Camellia Sinensis var. Assamica tea plant and is produced in the region of Assam, India. The tea plantations of Assam were introduced by the British during the colonial period. Assam tea is cultivated at or near sea level as it lies along the Brahmaputra river which stretches from the Himalayas through to the Bay of Bengal. The soil in the region of Assam is rich and fertile and benefits from a hot monsoon season. Assam tea is more oxidised than green or white teas; which results in Assam’s classic, dark leaf appearance. The growing conditions combined with the oxidisation process results in Assam’s full-bodied, malty flavour as well as its strong and brisk taste.

Brewing Guide

Place 2 grams of tea, per 330ml, into an infuser. Pour over hot water (100°C). Brew for 3-5 mins. Remove infuser.
