Origin

This tea is grown in Sri Lanka’s renowned Dimbula region, one of the country’s earliest tea-growing districts after tea replaced coffee in the 1870s. Grown at elevations of around 1,100–1,700 metres (3,500–5,500 feet), the cool climate, seasonal monsoon rains and crisp mountain air produce teas with exceptional brightness and a smooth, refreshing finish.

Dimbula is one of the most celebrated names in Ceylon tea, renowned for producing smooth, medium-strength black teas with a refined character. Its balanced flavour makes it equally enjoyable black or with a splash of milk.

Brewing Guide

Brew the perfect cup of Ceylon OP Dimbula Black Tea:

  • Tea Quantity: 1 tsp (approximately 2–3g) per 200ml water
  • Water Temperature: 100°C (freshly boiled)
  • Steeping Time: 3–5 minutes
  • Serving Suggestions: Enjoy black or with a splash of milk.

A shorter infusion highlights the tea’s brightness, while a slightly longer brew develops a fuller flavour.

How To Make Ceylon OP Dimbula Iced Tea

The bright, refreshing character of Dimbula tea makes it an excellent choice for homemade iced tea.

  • Use double quantity: 2 tsp per 200ml water
  • Steep: 4–5 minutes with freshly boiled water
  • Chill: Allow to cool before refrigerating for 4–6 hours or overnight
  • Serve: Pour over ice with lemon or fresh mint
  • Optional: Sweeten lightly with honey if desired.

Its crisp finish and bright liquor make it especially refreshing served cold.

Benefits

Ceylon black tea is naturally rich in antioxidants known as polyphenols, which help protect cells from oxidative stress.

Its moderate caffeine content provides a gentle energy boost, while naturally occurring L-theanine helps promote calm alertness.

With no added ingredients, it is a pure, refreshing black tea that’s suitable for everyday drinking.
