Origin

Dragonwell tea comes from the Zhejiang province of Eastern China, where it has been cultivated for centuries around the scenic West Lake region near the city of Longjing. This area’s mineral-rich soil and mild climate create ideal growing conditions for green tea.

The leaves are traditionally hand-plucked in early spring and then expertly pan-fired in large woks. This step halts oxidation and flattens the leaves into their distinctive “spear” shape, enhancing their nutty aroma and preserving their delicate flavour.

According to legend, a rain-bringing dragon once lived in a well near the tea gardens, giving this tea its mystical name—“Dragon Fountain Tea.”

Brewing Guide

Here’s how to brew the perfect cup of Long Jing Green Tea:

  • Tea Quantity: 1 tsp (approx. 2g) per 200ml water
  • Water Temperature: 75–80°C (not boiling)
  • Steeping Time: 2–3 minutes
  • Serving Suggestions: Best enjoyed without milk or sweetener

Multiple infusions are encouraged—adjust steep time slightly for each brew.
